Record Low Temperatures in the UK

It is cold in the UK! The coldest it has been for 20 years in many areas.
The Guardian reports an unusual occurence, i.e. ”ice in the fountains of Trafalgar Square”.
“The polar explorer Pen Hadow, who is leading a team of scientists to test the thickness of the Arctic Ocean ice cap, was able to practise taking such measurements in Trafalgar Square.”
