The photo on the left is that of “the Namib Desert, which is one of Earth’s oldest deserts, and its dunes; it stretches to Africa’s Atlantic coast—can tower nearly 1,000 feet (300 meters) high. The region is so dry that it receives more moisture from ocean fog than from its meager allotment of annual rainfall.”
