Temperatures across most of the nation’s heartland all the way to the Southeast and the mid-Atlantic will warm up a bit on Valentine’s Day.

The Southeast will have bright, sunny, pleasant and mild weather as an area of high pressure dominates.

People enjoying Valentine’s Day in Atlanta will be greeted by mostly sunny skies, a refreshing breeze and a high in the lower 60s. It will be a beautiful day for a long and romantic walk.

Much of the Southeast will be warming up into the 60s on Monday from Mississippi to the Delmarva Peninsula.

Even many of the major Northeast cities along the I-95 corridor will be mild during Valentine’s Day before colder air arrives behind a weak snowstorm.

This is expected to be the first time that the temperature climbs above 50 degrees in Philadelphia since Jan. 2, 2011.

However, cold winds will blast all the way to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic Coast by the evening and overnight, so those heading out for a romantic evening should prepare with a warmer jacket.

The interior Northeast and much of New England will be an exception to the warmth on Monday, so it might not be a bad idea to celebrate with a cozy night in on Valentine’s Day.

A clipper system will be spreading light to moderate snow across the upper Great Lakes through northern Pennsylvania, upstate New York and much of New England as well as neighboring Canadian provinces.

Boston will have a wintry mix of rain and snow with the high reaching into the lower 40s.

Highs will not be warm across the Midwest either, but they will be near to above normal. Chicago and Minneapolis will both be in the mid 30s with partial sunshine.

Temperatures will be warmer the farther south you go across the Plains.

In Orlando, abundant sunshine and highs in the lower 70s will be a treat for those celebrating Valentine’s Day.

It will be a mild and comfortable and mild day with partial sunshine and highs in the lower 70s in Dallas, while some cities and towns in the Rio Grande Valley will be heating up into the lower 80s.

Highs will reach into the 70s and 80s in Southern California and southern Arizona.

Farther north, a Pacific storm sitting off the West Coast will unleash rain from western Washington to central California.

People may need to cozy up and share an umbrella in Seattle and San Francisco when heading out for evening plans. Rain and clouds will hold temperatures in the 50s in these cities.

Mostly sunny skies are in store for most of the Four Corners region.

Sunshine and a high near 60 degrees will make it a nice day in Denver.

Whether your weather will be warmer on Valentine’s Day or not, AccuWeather.com wishes you a warm and wonderful day!
