I came across some remarkable sets of pictures that I wanted to share. One is from more than 200 miles above the earth and the other is at ground zero in fire and drought ravaged West Texas.
NASA astronaut Ron Garan took some terrific shots of our planet from the International Space Station. Space.com has posted some of his recent pictures. The picture below is of San Francisco. It was taken just before sunrise and if you look closely, you can also see a bright planet above the horizon. Click on the picture below to see other stunning views of Earth.
Texas just suffered through its driest March on record and April isn’t offering much hope of relief. Wildfires have burned approximately 1.4 million acres so far this year. The picture below is from The Atlantic. The fire was part of controlled burns designed to get rid of fuel on the mountains around McDonald Observatory.
