Independence Day is approaching, and Americans across the country are gearing up for a weekend of barbecues, parades and most of all, for the fireworks.

Although several states have banned fireworks due to drought concerns, most of the country will shoot off their holiday pyrotechnics restriction-free.

AccuWeather.com meteorologists took a look at the weather conditions for major fireworks displays.

In the Midwest, Chicago and Minneapolis have popular fireworks displays. A cold front will sweep through the nation’s midsection as the weekend ends, which means the Midwest and the mid-Atlantic will be threatened by showers and thunderstorms.

This means potentially damp fireworks conditions for major displays in New York and Washington, D.C., as well. We will continue to monitor this system as the week progresses.

On the West Coast, the Hollywood Bowl will have its July 4th Fireworks Spectacular with Hall & Oates performing.

Los Angeles has had more than a month of below-normal temperatures, enveloping the city with 60- to 70-degree high temperatures.

However, downtown Los Angeles will heat up for the holiday. Temperatures will near 90 during the holiday weekend. The heat will linger into the nighttime hours, giving the fireworks a warm but dry evening.

Farther north, downtown Seattle has a popular display of its own, the Chase Family Fourth fireworks.

Seattle, like Southern California, has had a month of cooler temperatures. However, unlike Southern California, temps won’t warm up quite as much.

The holiday weekend will have highs in the upper 70s, with lows in the 50s, giving the fireworks a cool but dry display.

For nighttime conditions for fireworks in your hometown, be sure to search the forecast for your zipcode.
