Two women were hospitalised overnight after their house was struck by lightning in the Nottinghamshire, England, market town of Newark.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said the lightning strike struck Friday night and caused a small fire after it short circuited electrical fittings in the house at Robert Dukeson Avenue. The roof of the semi-detached property also was badly damaged.
The Fire service said the blaze had been extinguished by the time they arrived on the scene.
Meanwhile, lightning strikes were reported across parts of east Ulster on Saturday afternoon. The strikes were reported southwest of Lough Neagh on the border between Armagh and Tyrone. Heavy showers are expected to move into parts of northern Leinster during the afternoon.
