The UK is assessing the high cost of damage in the aftermath of the former Hurricane Katia, which raked the British Archipelago early this week.
Early estimates are coming in showing upwards of 100 million British pounds (nearly $160 million), according to the Daily Mail Online. Costs are for property damage, cleanup and lost income.
The storm also killed one person, a driver whose minibus was struck by a wind-thrown tree in northeastern England.
The storm, which hit the north of the UK hardest, was called the “worst in 15 years in Britain” in the report by the Daily Mail.
The worst of the wind struck on Monday, when highest clocked winds reached 82 mph at Capel Curig, in the hills of North Wales.
