Partiers bringing in the new year in Times Square, N.Y., could see some snowflakes mixing in with the confetti.
An Alberta Clipper will pass by New York City on Saturday evening bringing wind, cold air and even some snowflakes just in time for the Times Square festivities.
The crowd waiting to watch the ball drop may want to put on a warm hat and some gloves.
There has been some snow in Times Square for past New Year’s Eve celebrations.
| Year | Snow |
|---|---|
| 2005 | 0.4 of an inch |
| 2007 | Trace |
| 2008 | 0.3 of an inch |
| 2009 | 1.5 inches |
“As the clipper makes its way farther north, there will be some accumulating snow through the Hudson Valley and into New England,” said AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson.
