Fair weather is in store for some of the most-anticipated college football bowl games early next week.

In the Southwest, the weather should be calm, tranquil and mild for bowl games early next week under the influence of high pressure dominating the region.

Meanwhile, cooler weather and isolated showers may be issues with tailgaters for some of the bowl games in the Southeast.

Rose Bowl Wisconsin vs. Oregon at 5 p.m. ET Jan. 2, 2011 in Pasadena, Calif.:

The weather will be beautiful for tailgaters and people attending the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. A kickoff temperature in the low 70s is forecast, and temperatures should remain comfortable throughout the game. Mostly clear skies are expected with winds of 4-8 mph.

Fiesta Bowl Stanford vs. Oklahoma State @ 8:30 p.m. ET Jan. 2, 2011 in Phoenix, Ariz.:

It will be nice weather for the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix with a kickoff temperature in the low 60s. Bringing along a sweatshirt is not a bad idea with the temperature expected to fall into the mid-50s as the game progresses. Skies will be clear throughout the game with winds of 4-8 mph.

It seems like the retractable roof should be open for the game!

Sugar Bowl Michigan vs. Virginia Tech 8:30 p.m. ET Jan. 3, 2011 in New Orleans, La.:

“It looks mostly clear and chilly for the Sugar Bowl,” said AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. The cooler weather will spread into the region following the passage of a cold front on Monday. The kickoff temperature will be in the mid- to upper 40s. Clear skies and calm winds will help the temperatures drop further through the 40s during the game.

The cool weather should not impact the players or people going to the bowl game since the stadium has a dome; however, tailgaters should dress warm.

Orange Bowl Clemson vs. West Virginia @ 8:30 p.m. ET Jan. 4, 2011 in Miami, Fla.:

“Besides a stray shower or two, the weather should be great for the Orange Bowl,” according to Meteorologist Andy Mussoline.

Temperatures will be fairly comfortable in the mid- to lower 60s throughout the game with partly cloudy skies. Winds of 6-12 mph are expected.
