"Blinding Snow Squalls" During Car Pileup in Pennsylvania

Traffic has been halted due to a multi-vehicle crash on southbound I-80 in Clinton County, Pa. The pileup involved more than two dozen vehicles, Pennsylvania State Police told WNEP-TV.

At the time of the crash, visibility in nearby Williamsport, Pa., was reduced to 1/4 mile.

“Snow squalls have been pretty blinding across that area today and this evening,” said AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Michael Pigott.

No injuries have been reported at this time, and the amount of vehicles involved in the crash is currently unknown.

The interstate is currently closed between mile markers 188 and 194, near Jersey Shore, Pa.

Clinton County Communications Center has urged southbound drivers to avoid the area or leave I-80 at the Loganton exit.

Additionally, WJAC-TV in Altoona, Pa, is reporting that care piled up Monday afternoon on I-80 in Jefferson County, Pa. Reports have come in of nearly 20 cars being involved in the crash. The crash occurred between mile markers 90 and 91 which is near Falls Creek. The number of injuries have not been reported, but emergency personnel worked to free trapped motorists.

A snow squall moved through the area around the time of the crash.

Earlier Monday, a 30-car pileup occurred in Cincinnati, also during low visibility.
