More photos by you the readers: The Olifants River in Limpopo

World Weather Post - Thursday, January 19, 2012, 11:15
Thank you to Ina Vorster, Phalaborwa, for the following photos of yesterday’s floods. In Ina’s words, ”it was just an incredible sight to stand next to that river that,s in flood. I live in Phalaborwa just a few kilometers from the river. The pictures were taken at “Boot en Hengel” club. The whole camping area were under flood. The water subsided about 80-100 meters when we arrived there.

This is the entrance of “Boot en Hengel” The small dam next to the gate, just got a lot bigger.

The river came right up to the buildings. This open restaurant were flooded.

The mighty Olifants River, rushing with amazing speed through “Boot en Hengel”

My boy is very big for his 9 years old. Just so that we could show the size of the tree trunks, that washed out in the camping area.

This was so scary.

I was astound by the size of these trunks.
