Power Flashes, Possible Tornado, and Intense Lightning Show

bookie24 - Monday, January 23, 2012, 9:55
We interecepted a tornadic supercell just to the SW of De Witt, AR. There was a confirmed tornado on the ground, but we could not get a good visual on the tornado. We see what appeared to be a potential rain wrapped funnel, but through pictures and videos could not be confirmed, but multiple power flashes were observed along the projected path and damage reported.

We are a group of students from UNC Asheville that decided to chase; Zachary Hargrove, Cole Regan, Daniel Martin, and myself…Jeremy Michael.

In the video if you look in the first few seconds just to the right of those lights, a orange flash can be observed. Also in the video was intense inflow winds into the storm. Intense lightning can be seen throughout the video, most intense towards the end. Sorry for the talking in the video.

In the 8th picture you can see a power flash caught on my camera. It is located between the two lights in the center of the picture. It is a lighter blue flash/glow.
