Welcome to World Weather Post.
World Weather Post staff and I value your time to visit our website to learn about us and the weather information we provide. I am Jacques Hallé, the founder of World Weather Post.
We are located in the Province of Québec, Canada, more precisely in the city of Magog. My experience as an operational meteorologist in Montreal and in satellite research at the Canadian Meteorological Center has helped me understand the science behind the weather. I had the honour of receiving the Dr. Andrew Thompson award from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographical Society for outstanding achievement in Applied Meteorology and have had the opportunity to participate in numerous scientific conferences (e.g. 2003) throughout the world.
But, over the years, I realized that there is more to weather than just science. It’s about how people are affected by a winter storm, a tornado outbreak, a hurricane. It’s about sharing stories. Sharing knowledge about weather phenomena in a way accessible to everybody. It’s also about how people themselves affect the weather. Climate change. The politics of climate change. It’s not all gloom and doom. Who does not have an unusual, offbeat, funny story about the weather? The World Wide Web is rich with articles about the weather. Not all articles have the same level of quality, relevance or accuracy. To help you find and sort out what can be very scattered information, World Weather Post was born. Our editors select the best, the most relevant and the most interesting and bring it all to you on one website, World Weather Post.
Our mission: “At World Weather Post, we gather and select weather stories from around the world. Choosing from the best sources internationally, we condense the information for you in an easily readable concise format. World Weather Post brings you stories about how people are affected by weather but also how weather is affected by people. You will also find a sense of humour and a curiosity for understanding the weather. We encourage you to use our blog to express your opinion and share your stories and knowledge”.
Welcome.
